...and I don't know whether to cry or cheer. LOL  Every year I love doing this, and every year I'm traumatized by doing this.  But then again, every year I come back for more. *G*  resolucidity was a Godsend this year to me and severity_softly, no question.  With our largest participation ever, there were a lot more types of requests, and the Rossi/Prentiss corner of fandom really made itself felt this year (*cheers*), and I feel it overall went really well.

We've still got a little while before reveals are done.  I would encourage any of you who haven't kept up on reading (as I freely admit I haven't!) to use this long holiday weekend to cram it in before you know who wrote the fics.  Trust me, it adds a whole new level, and I honestly love seeing what people comment on my fic without knowing it was me who wrote it.  :)

Since I've got just about all my various holiday exchange things done (only one more fic to tone and post), I'm going through today and commenting on all the things I was able to skim but not really enjoy and comment on while I was busy posting them.  It's fun. :)

OMG BTW I cannot believe the person who made my gifts only got 3 comments! GO LOOK at my gorgeous Rossi/Prentiss wallpapers! I've had the Christmas one on my desktop since getting this midway through the month, and it makes me smile every time I look at it.

If you haven't signed up for cm_exchange yet, make sure you do so before midnight!  You notice I don't question whether you want to or not, because of course you want to!

This is our third year, and there have been some amazing fanworks come out of this exchange.  It's a time to request the fic you really want to see written that no one has tackled yet.  It's a place to ask for art, though admittedly there aren't as many artists as there are writers, so it's best to have prompts for art and fic both.  Plus it's contributing to a month-long outpouring of fanfic, graphics, icons, and art.

But hurry!  We're closing sign-ups at midnight (though I think we'll be lenient about whether it's midnight our time (EDT) or midnight Pacific time.

We need more participation in the monthly challenges at the two comms I'm actively running with severity_softly! I've actually added "Post new challenge" to my calendar to repeat monthly, so they really will be monthly challenges now instead of whenever-the-hell-we-remember-it challenges. Come on, you guys, you know you want to write drabbles or poems or draw fanart or something! :D

Rossi/Prentiss 'Heat' Challenge

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, it's getting hot this month. Does Dave wear plaid golf shorts when he's not at work? Does Emily keep a wading pool in Dave's backyard just to cool off? Whether you take this as a challenge related to the weather or to the chemistry between Dave and Emily, it's all welcome. Full-length fics, drabbles, poems, graphics, fanvids, fanmixes, and other contributions can also be part of the challenge! The challenge officially ends at midnight, June 30.


The SSA Rossi 'Cliches' Challenge

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. And don't put all your eggs in one basket. Have a favorite cliche? What about a favorite fandom cliche--Rossi the maverick, Rossi the womanizer, Rossi the Gideon-hater... The possibilities are endless. Any and every cliche that can relate to our Davey is accepted. Life With Coffee Spoons - by an anonymous writer, Rossi/Prentiss, PG-13

Look at the prompt my writer chose! Something bad happens & Dave is hospitalized. Emily has his medical proxy and has to make a decision. She goes up against an ex-wife and a sibling or two. I AM SO FREAKING OVER THE MOON about my fic. There are so many wonderful moments and such a deep understanding of these two characters. Go read it NOW.

I'm cleaning up my links list and want to take my old RPGs off there, so I'm putting the links to them here for my future reference:

farfromgracerpg - I played Peter Pettigrew and Evangelos Rosier in Far From Grace. I applied for Peter on a whim, because I was tired of seeing Marauder-era games where Sirius, Remus, and James were taken and Peter was just mentioned in passing. I firmly believe Peter was truly their friend for years, and just a bit weak. I tried to make him a deeply flawed but still sympathetic character, and as he was struggling with his hidden attraction to men, he eventually became involved with Remus--a relationship that was, to a certain extent, Peter's salvation, even though he ended up losing it in the end.

culpaepatria - Sins of the Fathers, a post-war Harry Potter game where I played Remus Lupin, who was involved with Tonks for a while and then became involved with Snape after discovering he hadn't really been a traitor. This one was fun because Remus was the Alpha of the werewolves who had defected from Fenrir Greyback's pack. They had driven Greyback out, and Greyback ended up returning and challenging Lupin, who had to fight for supremacy.

rcsnupin - the Snape/Lupin archive from Ruat Coelum RPG, a post-HBP game which was sadly hosted at GreatestJournal. The game itself is lost, but the Snupin archive remains.

The RPG I was proudest of, Artifice, was also hosted on GreatestJournal, sadly. It was AU Harry Potter and featured a world where Grindelwald had taken over much of Europe, Africa, and India, and had made inroads into other parts of the world. There was a drastically altered world map, Muggles were, at least under Grindelwald, subjugated by the wizards. The only 'canon' characters we had were Orion and Regulus Black and Tom Riddle (who had not yet become Voldemort, as he was Grindelwald's second-in-command). It was all kinds of fun, and I miss it, and now we don't even have the archive. :(

I got my start in online RPG with Walpurgis Night, but that was hosted on GreatestJournal and nothing of that remains except the scenes I saved on my computer in Word format. LOL


And of course I continue in RPG with bau_rpg, which is in the Criminal Minds fandom and is, honestly, the best game I've ever had the privilege of playing in. I truly like every single player in this game and feel close to everyone. The writing is superb on all levels. The relationships are complicated and interesting. I have read every bit of every scene, which hasn't always been the case in games I've played (you know how it is, sometimes the only scenes you really find interesting are your own, and that's NOT the case in BAU RPG). We've just closed a major case (the Reaper/George Foyet) in bau_rpg and are entering some down time with Christmas parties and the like. We have a reading comm at bau_rpg_readers where players and non-players alike can post thoughts, commentary, questions, and discussion. And we're always open to applications for characters like Haley Brooks Hotchner, Sean Hotchner, Ambassador Prentiss, and other secondary characters.

severity_softly has done a fantastic job summarizing the slowly-developing Dave/Emily storyline in our Criminal Minds RPG, so I'm going to link to it so I'll be able to find it later. :D

The past six months of the game have been so much fun, and it's been a blast to develop their relationship slowly. We're wrapping up the last of the Foyet case now (which we resolved differently, since our game was canon through all but the last five minutes of season four), and we're getting ready to do some non-case holiday stuff.

We also have a brand-new readers' comm called bau_rpg_readers, where people can feel free to join and comment, discuss, etc. :)

Oh, and I'll quote this part of my wifey's post: And we would always love new members! All the team is claimed, but we would love some of the supporting characters to be there (Elle, Haley, Ambassador Prentiss, Gideon, or anyone else you can think of!).

I told myself I was going to organize my music collection when I quit NaNo. My C: drive is getting too full, and I discovered by accident a while ago that Winamp seems to be ripping music files to the wrong directory when I import a CD, so not only is some of the music on my C: drive, but a lot of the music on the external drive is in the wrong place. Plus a little while back I stopped spending money at iTunes and started buying my music at Amazon.com (1. they do 50 albums a month for $5, 2. the files are non-DRM MP3s, 3. I got annoyed at Apple) and the Amazon.com files have been downloading to the C:/users/user/music/ folder. GRAR! I'm not looking forward to this task, though, because I imagine I'll have to redo my playlists. I have a lot of playlists...like at least 250 by my estimate. *headdesk*

cm_exchange has started posting! And the first fic is such a good one! I'm very excited about it this year. We have something like 38 fics, which is a lot more than last year, and everyone's been so great!

It was dark when I left the house this morning for work. It was almost dark before I left work, and it was dark when I got home. Thank goodness I sat in the car at lunchtime or I wouldn't have seen the sun at all today. I want a Ribbon Lamp for Christmas. It's supposed to be people who suffer from SAD, and though I've never done anything but self-diagnosis, I think I would benefit.

I really hope I can sleep tonight. Over the past two nights I've gone to bed and just lain awake for a couple hours, followed by several hours of restless sleep and/or bad dreams. On the plus side, I've made a lot more progress in Joe Mantegna's reading of The Godfather. I walked around all day thinking about Franco Brazzi and wondering if Michael Corleoni really would go through with his plan. (I still feel sorry for Khartoum though.)

The Black Crowes have a new album out and I just discovered this thanks to Amazon's big music sale on Black Friday. The Black Crowes make me happy. I think Dave Rossi would like them.
