I just have to say, where the heck are all the Harry Potter fans on AO3? My most popular HP fic is
A Life of Obscurity, which was a 21,096-word Snupin Santa fic. It has 1,499 hits, 70 kudos, 5 comment threads, and 24 bookmarks.

I wonder if this is a result of the ways fandom has changed over the years. My HP fandom involvement was almost entirely on FictionAlley and LiveJournal, and of course, starting in 2007 LJ started going downhill, and I started porting fic over to AO3. I...honestly don't remember what happened with FictionAlley, though it seems like there was some drama that led to people moving to AO3?

My poor little The 100 fanfics get very little attention--probably because I'm such a fringe-shipper. Not many people looking for Bellamy/Jackson or Bellamy/Monty slash out there, I guess. :D

...and I don't know whether to cry or cheer. LOL  Every year I love doing this, and every year I'm traumatized by doing this.  But then again, every year I come back for more. *G*  resolucidity was a Godsend this year to me and severity_softly, no question.  With our largest participation ever, there were a lot more types of requests, and the Rossi/Prentiss corner of fandom really made itself felt this year (*cheers*), and I feel it overall went really well.

We've still got a little while before reveals are done.  I would encourage any of you who haven't kept up on reading (as I freely admit I haven't!) to use this long holiday weekend to cram it in before you know who wrote the fics.  Trust me, it adds a whole new level, and I honestly love seeing what people comment on my fic without knowing it was me who wrote it.  :)

Since I've got just about all my various holiday exchange things done (only one more fic to tone and post), I'm going through today and commenting on all the things I was able to skim but not really enjoy and comment on while I was busy posting them.  It's fun. :)

OMG BTW I cannot believe the person who made my gifts only got 3 comments! GO LOOK at my gorgeous Rossi/Prentiss wallpapers! I've had the Christmas one on my desktop since getting this midway through the month, and it makes me smile every time I look at it.

And of course I managed to delete it.  First time that's happened with Semagic.  Go me.  So in brief, here's stuff that's going on:

• The cmrossiprentiss Advent Calendar - I posted fic today called The Most Profound Gifts.  We've got posting lined up for every single day of the month.
  
• The cm_exchange posting - all pairings and both art & fic, and there are some fabulous gifts already posted over there!
  
• Dentist today - tiny cavity filling, which meant a shot. Ugh. Hate shots in the mouth despite numerous tattoos, piercings, and not being afraid of regular shots.
  
• Cataclysm released today.  I spent hours replacing the power supply unit and video card on Sunday. Shouldn't have taken hours, but it did, because power supplies are bitches. It had nothing to do with me being an impatient dumbass, so shut up.
  
• Speaking of Cataclysm, Dad bought it for me for Christmas.  Not sure if I'm getting it now or having to wait three weeks.  *grumbles*
  
• Headache. Ow.
  
• We're supposed to get a nasty snowstorm this weekend in two waves.  Frankly I thought the four-five inches we got all day this past Saturday was bad enough.  I hate getting out and driving in winter.
  
• I'm trying to make my mom's Gateway (ugh) laptop run again.  Last night backed up the hard drive. Tonight running System Recovery...and not having much luck.  Damn Gateway.
  
• Bought a new chair for my computer desk.  It's a Gaiam BalanceBall Chair.  I'm afraid I overinflated it, but I'm going to wait and see how it is tomorrow.  I've already let air out twice.  Also, my back hurts.  But I hear that's supposed to happen at first.  Maybe.  At least it was a cosmetically damaged piece so half price. LOL
  
• Won NaNoWriMo but haven't actually finished the novel yet.  I stopped after validating and haven't gotten the momentum back yet.

If you haven't signed up for cm_exchange yet, make sure you do so before midnight!  You notice I don't question whether you want to or not, because of course you want to!

This is our third year, and there have been some amazing fanworks come out of this exchange.  It's a time to request the fic you really want to see written that no one has tackled yet.  It's a place to ask for art, though admittedly there aren't as many artists as there are writers, so it's best to have prompts for art and fic both.  Plus it's contributing to a month-long outpouring of fanfic, graphics, icons, and art.

But hurry!  We're closing sign-ups at midnight (though I think we'll be lenient about whether it's midnight our time (EDT) or midnight Pacific time.

Okay, honestly, CM Fandom, I adore you.

I feel incredibly honored and grateful and blessed to have been voted Best Author Overall for the 2009 cmfanficawards--especially because I know I was nominated against a bunch of other really talented people. There are others on my friends list who won awards (not that I'm surprised, because I seek out good writers to be friends with) as well as some people whose fic I will have to read in the future. (I confess, while I turned in nominations, I didn't actually vote this year because I ran out of time to finish reading all the fics that were nominated.)

Congratulations to everyone who won, and congratulations to everyone who was nominated, because even getting a nomination means that your fic really meant something to someone. And the awards and titles are awesome, but knowing that I can put words on paper and touch someone in the process is the most amazing thing of all.

I was listening to U2's album Pop the other day, which isn't my favorite of theirs. But the lyrics of "Gone" really struck me as a David Rossi song. In fact, I might have to rework the Rossi mix I've been working on for ages to fit that one in there. *G*

Anyway, I don't need a new banner yet, because I just barely made the one I'm using. So I thought I'd put this up for grabs and see if anyone wants to use it. :)

It's that time again!

We are pleased to announce the return of cm_exchange--the 2009 Criminal Minds Holiday/December/Let's All Play Gift-Giver Exchange! This is an anonymous exchange of fic, art, graphics, LJ or webpage layouts...the possibilities are endless. Since it is an exchange, each participant will give one gift and receive one gift. All characters and pairings are welcome. cm_exchange will include gifts of all ratings, gen, slash, het, and femslash.

I liked using my April 2009 desktop wallpaper so much (even if I kept tweaking it) that I made myself an May 2009 desktop wallpaper, and thought I might as well share it with y'all.

I made it for my monitor, which is set to 1024x768, and I am running Vista with the sidebar on the right. If I get requests I can try to figure out how to resize it properly. LOL Or you're welcome to do that yourself if you know how.
