Went to see Prince Caspian today finally. What's funny is this has never been my favourite of the Narnia books, but man, did I love this movie! The acting was brilliant, the scenery was beautiful... They did some inventing, but I was pleased with it, because it was true to the spirit of the book, the underlying theme of which is how when we do things our way, we screw up bigtime, but when we do things God's way, they go right.

I was, however, distracted from the heavenly themes of the movie by Little Mr No-Longer-Jailbait, Skandar Keynes. Okay, I've always been an Edmund fangirl, but dude.

Dude. Disshevelled schoolboy is the Best Look Evah. Rowr. (Well, Disshevelled Businessman is more age-appropriate, but still.)

*cough* Okay, enough. But seriously, someone find me a 30-year-old equivalent to King Edmund the Just, mmkay?

For those of you who are William Moseley fans, at least he's in one of these pictures. *G*

Nyagh! <---- Inarticulate sound of adoration. I shouldn't drool over a boy ten years younger than me ;)

I really enjoyed the film! much more than I was expecting to - Prince Caspian isn't my favorite of the books, and of the four BBC movies I grew up on it's also my least favorite. I don't dislike it, just less exciting. but wow! it is such a pleasure to come out of a big-screen beloved-book adaptation and be happy and pleased and looking forward to seeing it again. *g*

I loved the Dawn Treader. it had a kid who turned into a dragon! (albeit not as a happy thing) it's a sea & island adventure story! there's enchanted princess types and gold in caves and legends... ^_^

I guess the one of the key components lies with the writers and directors. the Narnia people seem to have hit a lucky balance of ingredients.

tangent: also, though I won't see the DIR travesty, I fear part of the issue was the idiots wanting to make it an epic action-adventure story of the kind the industry has been serving up over the last 10 years, and it ISN'T. did you read the Horn Book's review of the film (http://www.hbook.com/resources/films/darkisrising.asp)? my friend Claire wrote it, and Susan Cooper was so pleased she wrote her a letter! and a freaking Christmas card! I was green with envy *g*

I'm debating whether to try to resist seeing Indiana Jones and giving my money to Narnia again a week from now.

oh, Narnia all the way. :D

Eustace is awesome. I love him in the Silver Chair. ^_^

and oh yes, I will never watch the DiR movie. *shudder* I like reading reviews like that, and enjoyed reading a lot of the blog posts surrounding the films release, for that very reason - seeing so many people declare their love and appreciation of the books. :)

Yep, I am definitely more of a William Mosely girl, so you can have little Mr. Keynes all to yourself. ;-)

Seriously, right??? I had to keep reminding myself that he's a kid.

I was a little annoyed by some of the "inventing", but God did I love the bit where he smashed the White Witch to icy smithereens. Redemption, thy name is Edmund.

And also, "It's King Edmund, actually"?? *LOVED*

True! Although I did think Caspian could have been portrayed as a little less of a jerky pansy-boy. He was okay by the end, but I was bothered by him in the movie in ways that didn't even cross my mind in the book.

And what about those accents? What was the purpose of that?

Yeah, I do think you're right about that. I guess it just bothered me because these men were supposedly living in Narnia for generations, right? So the accents just distracted me.

But overall, I loved the movie too. :D Can't wait for a second viewing!

I just wanted to say how thankful I am that Anna Popplewell is legal in all relevant jurisdictions. :)

I myself had thoughts of "Oh, baby! Skander is cute these days" while watching the film today. I went and saw it with a 8 and 5 year old so couldn't express that out loud. *g* The 5 year old calls it "Prince Casapean" which is what I've now dubbed it.

And I loved The Call! Am downloading it right now!
