I suggest we take our complaints and comments to
lj_biz's most recent post, dated 19 July, which is ironically enough titled more clarifications.
There are only 22 pages of comments on that post. Yes, it's back-end rather than public, but it's another outlet, and it's on a post that claims to be making things clearer on the very issue whereby they violated our trust this week.
That post, in part, says Over the years, we've looked at thousands of reported journals and communities, and we rarely have come across a case of creative fiction or fanfic text that warrants review. If the content is similar in tone, context, feel, and level of explicitness to something that could be found on the shelves of a national chain bookstores, we'll take that into consideration as well.
I say bullshit. They're not taking anything into consideration. You can buy Playboy, Playgirl, Hustler, on the shelves of bookstores. I remember when my parents didn't shop at Book World because they sold porn. I remember when the bookstore at the mall had an "over 18" shelf that I couldn't even reach.
Let's go complain over there. Because regardless of how one personally feels about the specific content, this is censorship, and that does not belong in America. You know what?
coffeeandink says it better than I could. Please read.

Date: 2007-08-04 08:41 pm (UTC)I saw one of the banned pieces of art - not at all my kind of thing, I found it unattractive and unpleasant to look at. However, that is purely my taste. Other people probably felt it was the hottest thing ever.
Either way, LJ have handled this situation with their usual heavy handed arrogance and have made no friends thereby. I use GJ anyway for RP purposes so using it to blog won't be much of an effort.

Date: 2007-08-05 02:33 am (UTC)If that's the case, the response should be a promise to totally smut things up should any sale or new ad campaign go through. LJ can have the choice to either chill and let a big chunk of their users amuse themselves or try and explain to advertisers and buys why there's a giant wang on every page.
