Far From Grace: Peter's Tale

This is a not-too-detailed summary, with links, of
peter_ffg's story in
farfromgracerpg, an AU Marauders-Era game. I've left out some subplot information, and my coverage of Remus' side of the story is a bit spotty, but I've already stayed up way too late doing this, and am about to fall asleep in my chair. Without further ado...
As the game begins early in November 1978, James Potter is tragically killed during a pick-up Quidditch match with his best friends, Sirius, Remus, and Peter. Although they don't know who did it, they know it is the Killing Curse, and that it therefore has to have been one of the Death Eaters. James is buried on 15 November.
A few days later, Peter goes to visit Remus for the first time since the funeral. Peter is struggling with guilt over having murdered one of his best friends at Voldemort's behest, and is also grieving for his best friend. He and Remus cry together and drink until they pass out.
The next week, Peter stops by the cottage Remus and Sirius share and finds Remus reading poetry. Not recognising Walt Whitman's name, he gets Remus to read it to him, and they discuss poetry. Peter finds himself attracted to Remus--a disturbing and frightening problem that has been cropping up from time to time lately--and suggests they go to a Diagon Alley pub for dinner.
On 2 December, the remaining Marauders + Lily get together to discuss what they can do to find out who killed James. Sirius decides to attempt to reinfiltrate his family. Peter attempts to dissuade him, not wanting to have to turn him in, but Lily sides with Sirius, and the matter is settled.
A week later, Remus stops by Scrivenshaft's, where Peter works, and they go to the Three Broomsticks. They rough-house a bit in the middle of Hogsmeade and find themselves blushing for no apparent reason. A few days later Peter invites Remus to dinner at his mum's house. More lovely UST ensues.
Lily invites everyone to a Christmas Party. Peter and Remus go shopping for Christmas presents and Peter accidentally outs himself to Remus following an embarrassing visit to the Adults Only room in Zonko's Joke Shop.
At the Order Christmas Party, Peter and Remus go outside for some fresh air and wind up trapped by magical mistletoe. Peter proceeds to drink himself stupid. (This is a comment-threaded scene.)
It takes Peter over a week, but on 3 January he finally goes to see Remus to face the consequences of Mistletoe. He and Remus clear up a few misunderstandings.
After the next Order meeting, Peter tries again to talk Sirius out of his plan. When Sirius refuses, Peter decides he won't be held responsible if Sirius is discovered. Several days later, Peter comes to Remus & Sirius' cottage for anothersnog session visit with Remus. They haven't yet figured out how to tell their friends both that they are gay and that they are together, but Sirius solves that problem by walking in on them in a compromising position. He doesn't take it well.
Before he and the other two can make up, Sirius is taken prisoner by the Death Eaters because Peter told them his 'change of heart' was false. Remus and Peter try to get through the full moon without him, which doesn't go well. On 15 January, Senior Order member Dorcas Meadowes questions some of the others about Sirius' disappearance, but learns nothing. Peter and Remus try to comfort each other and Lily, when she arrives. She proposes going to see Severus and asking him to help. Remus and Peter agree, and say they will visit Knockturn Alley to distract anyone watching from Lily.
Thanks to Severus' help, Sirius survives being tortured by the Death Eaters, though he is left for dead at the Three Broomsticks. Peter visits him in St Mungo's, riddled with guilt and relieved that he is alive. The next day, when Sirius is allowed home, the three remaining Marauders have a proper reunion and sort out their disagreement from before.
With Sirius home safe, Remus decides to ask Peter if they can tell Lily about their relationship. After a distraction (of the physical sort), Peter agrees. Lily takes it much better than Sirius did, though she is surprised.
On 28 January, Peter takes Remus out for dinner at his late father's favourite restaurant, explaining that it was always reserved for special occasions. After dinner, they trade declarations of love and finally have sex.
A few days later, Peter runs into Emmeline Vance, with whom he has been cultivating a tentative friendship, despite suspecting she is interested romantically in Remus. Then on 2 February, just before Lily's birthday party, Remus and Peter have an unsettling encounter with someone Remus recognises as a fellow werewolf. They go on to the birthday party, where Emmeline has arrived with Evan Rosier--a Pureblood cousin of Sirius'--as her date.
On their one-month anniversary, Remus spends the afternoon with Peter and confesses that he is going to meet 'Adolphus' the werewolf to talk. Peter is jealous, sure that Adolphus was hitting on Remus. The next week, Peter stops by to see Remus, only to discover Remus is about to have dinner with Emmeline; jealous again, Peter invites himself along. After his disastrous meeting with Adolphus on 10 February, Remus goes to Peter for comfort and alcohol, and confesses that he wanted to meet with the man because he's a werewolf.
On Valentine's Day, Peter and Sirius have an unpleasant conversation, then Remus and Peter go to a romantic dinner in Pisa, Italy. A few days later Peter meets Sirius at the Three Broomsticks in an attempt to patch things up.
On 29 February the Marauders + Lily go out to a Muggle pub for a night of drinking and dancing. If it weren't for James' absence, it would be like old times. Peter and Remus are sad because they can't dance with each other in public.
A week before Remus' birthday, Peter tries to figure out what Remus might like as a present. Of course, they get sidetracked in the bedroom, but eventually they get to Diagon Alley, where Peter has little success finding ideas. A few days later Remus owls Peter to come over, and then reveals that he accidentally told Emmeline that he and Peter are together. Instead of being angry, Peter is relieved that Em knows Remus is taken.
On 6 March, Sirius apologises to Remus for being such a git about Remus & Peter's relationship. The day before Remus' birthday, Sirius apologises to Peter, as well. He and Peter plan a birthday party for Remus. The next day, Peter arrives early to distract the birthday boy from the party preparations. We can all imagine what techniques Peter uses. At the party, there is drinking, dancing, and embarrassing stories. (this is a comment-threaded scene.)
On 22 March, Peter surprises Remus with a quick trip to Greece, which turns into an overnight stay, courtesy of too much Ouzo. A few days later Emmeline stops by Scrivenshaft's and invites Peter to lunch. The next day, Remus teaches Peter how to cast a corporeal Patronus.
On 28 March, Remus discovers that 'Adolphus' is actually Fenrir Greyback; he tells only Lily, afraid that Sirius and Peter will react rashly. On 2 April, Remus takes Peter to the Hogshead for dinner and tells him about Greyback. After an argument, Peter promises to stay away from Greyback as well, no matter what.
Just a few days later, on 8 April, Peter learns that it isn't Greyback he should be worried about. He and Emmeline are on their way home from dinner when Bellatrix Black corners them in an alley. Despite knowing Bellatrix as the Dark Lord's most important servant, Peter tries to defend Emmeline, and manages to send his Patronus to Edgar Bones for aid. Edgar arrives in time to drive off Bellatrix. They get Emmeline to St Mungo's, then Peter breaks the news to the other Marauders.
Peter's mum takes a holiday, and Remus insists Peter not stay alone; they do a bit of playing house, despite the fact that Peter knows his defence of Emmeline won't go unpunished. Remus goes to check on Emmeline and hears what a hero his boyfriend is. Peter also visits Emmeline, where they try to get back to normal after the attack.
VERY SERIOUS SPOILERS ARE SUMMARIZED HERE: (highlight to read) Finally, on 21 April, Peter's double lives meet. The Dark Lord summons him, then gives him to Bellatrixin this scene to be punished for getting in her way. After she lets him go, Peter manages to get home in this scene, where Remus is waiting for him. Exhausted and in pain, Peter can't lie to Remus any longer; he reveals that he is the traitor who killed James. Astonished and broken-hearted, Remus tries to kill him but can't do it. He leaves Peter.
Remus goes home and gets Sirius to take him out drinking in this scene but doesn't reveal that Peter is a Death Eater and a murderer; he can't turn off his love for Peter, and is afraid Sirius will kill Peter before Remus gets the answers he needs. Destroyed by his loss of Remus, Peter spends the next several days in a haze of depression, though he does manage to clean up the evidence of the attack in this scene before his mother returns from holiday.
Upon learning in this scene that Peter chucked Remus, Sirius makes a mis-guided attempt to get them back together in this scene, which fails as miserably as expected. END OF SERIOUS SPOILERS
This is where we are today. Peter and Remus are heart-broken,
severity_softly and I are heart-broken (despite having planned this for nearly five months), and Peter's future is looking very grim.
I've left out an early subplot involving Rabastan Lestrange, because the person playing Rabastan left around late January/early February, and that subplot was left uncompleted. It's possible to explore that subplot, if you want, using the game's tags.
