escape yourself and gravity

I just got my dad a new phone, and for the first time he's opted for a smartphone.  And he chose.....Android.  The Blackberry Bold was free, but I didn't think he would be as comfortable with the Blackberry as he would be with the iPhone or an Android phone.  And after the Best Buy girl let him look at the Samsung Captivate for a while, he seemed to really like it.  (She even downloaded a Civil War app for him before we left!)

But I'm having a couple of issues here, and I know some of my friends are using Android phones.


What are your favorite apps?  (Keeping in mind Dad is not into LJ, Facebook, or Twitter. LOL)

Can I buy ringtones for his phone?  He's always had the Imperial March as his ringtone, and I can't figure out how to make that happen.



We got Mom a new phone too, but she went with the Pantech Ease, because it has a full keyboard and she texts a lot but doesn't want the internet or anything.  Of course, I can't figure out how to do some things on that phone either, but oh well.

Okay, I've been doing some LJ clean-up today, leaving comms I no longer read and the like. If you've friended me recently and want to be friended back, comment here, okay? I know I've missed a lot of people lately.

Hey, I know at least two of you out there are steampunk fans. lar_laughs is just getting into the genre and needs people to talk to about it. She's interested in writing a steampunk novel for NaNoWriMo this year!

I got to preorder Northlander today - a novel written by one of my LJ friends, megburden! It's due out 27 November, which is good timing as hopefully by the time I get it from Amazon I will be finished with my NaNoWriMo novel. *grin*

It's so exciting to watch someone you know have successes like this.

I'm doing this because frankly, as much as I love HP fandom, a lot of my friends aren't in the fandom, so I want to do this here.  ^__^

ETA: This is not to EXCLUDE HP-fandomers. Please, love HP-fandomers here, too. *G* I just don't want my non-HP friends to get left out of the love. ^____^

Put into the subject line of a comment the name of someone (not me!) that you think highly of - yourself or someone else - and then put into the comment itself something nice about that person. Check whether there's a thread for that person already or not, but otherwise go for it! Even if you've never talked to this person and just want to fangirl them for a moment, go for it! We all need to be fangirled sometimes. :)
