So last week I spent three days with a stomach bug, so I stayed home Wednesday through Friday.  Worked Monday, but I was having serious problems with what I thought was allergies.  Now I'm pretty sure it's influenza.  Yippee.  Well, the Bible does say that pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.  For all the migraine and allergy and sciatica issues I have, I can't remember the last time I had either stomach flu or influenza--probably when I was in grade school.  So I've bragged about that (yeah, I know) and never got flu shots.  But Monday night I went to bed at 8:30 and I spent all day yesterday either in bed or in a recliner, and all day today either in bed or on the loveseat.  I had a fever of 99.9, which for me is high because my normal temperature is 97-something, not 98.6.  The fever finally broke sometime this morning, because I woke up around 11:30 drenched in sweat.  But I'm still so weak I can't sit up for longer than 15 or 20 minutes.  I did eat some chili around 3, and I'm hungry again, which seems like a miracle.  Of course, eating also feels like really hard work.  I'm in bed right now with my netbook on.

I will say, at least the timing has been good.  We got hit by a nasty ice storm this week.  It started Monday night, enough that we all stayed home yesterday, and then we got another wave of ice yesterday from about 5 to midnight.  We have about 4-6 inches of ice out there.  Yuck.  Mom's school has already called off for tomorrow.  Dad tried to drive out to the mailbox this afternoon, and he proceeded to get the truck stuck in the driveway, and then the car stuck in the driveway.  Why he tried the car after the truck got stuck, I have no idea.  It took him a good half hour to get them unstuck and put the car back in the garage.  Mom ended up walking out to the mailbox, and it was empty, so obviously the USPS didn't live up to their unofficial motto of delivering through "rain, snow, sleet, or hail".  LOL

I'm not planning to go to work tomorrow.  I couldn't sit at my computer today longer than 15 minutes or so; no way would I be able to make it through 8 hours of work.  I suspect I'll be home the rest of the week.  Not that I'm weeping bitter tears over that, but it's going to suck for later in the year, since January is a crap time to use up all your sick paid time off.

My cat's asleep on my legs.  I feel bad, but I'm going to have to make him move.  I need to venture down the stairs and see if I can eat something.
