Okay, this is partly for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] cm_exchange members, but also just because it's interesting to do. Especially since I did one of these two years ago, and it's interesting to see what has changed, what hasn't, and what I didn't carry over from Harry Potter to Criminal Minds.

Warning: Discussion of rape and other potentially disturbing content. Also, um, yeah, NC-17 rated I guess. Strong opinions within, and none of these should be taken to mean that I think you should stop writing/reading what I dislike. Just don't make me write or read it. ;)

I'll add, also, that this should not be taken as a commentary on my actual sex life, which is nonexistent. *grin*

Squicks: These are fairly easy, as I generally know what I can't handle.
- Adultery. Honestly, it makes me sick to my stomach to read adultery, even if it works and is perfect in the context of the fic. I can handle it if it is briefly mentioned and isn't the focus of the fic (as in, it's not someone in the main pairing that's committed adultery).

- Humiliation. Public or private, just no.

- Necrophilia.

- Scat/golden showers.

- Rape. Have to qualify this one. I don't want to see one of the characters in a pairing rape someone--either within the pairing or someone else. I will read it if one of them is the victim of a rape, though I definitely want to see it treated realistically, with all the fallout as something that has to be dealt with. And frankly I'm sick of all the Reid-in-distress fics, so I'm definitely not a fan of Reid-as-rape-victim. Morgan, of course, is a rape survivor, so obviously I want to see that dealt with, even if just a sentence that mentions he went to therapy when he was in college.

- Chan.

- Bestiality.

- Mpreg. I didn't even like it in the Harry Potter fandom where presumably magic could explain it. Please don't do it in the real world.

- Non-con/Dub-con. I feel like there's some sort of difference between rape and non-con, but I'm not sure what it is. So it falls under my squick heading, too.

- Character Death. This isn't a deal-breaker for me, because hey, I've written character death. But generally speaking...I don't read much of it.

- d/S and heavy bondage. I loved this in HP. It doesn't work for me in CM. I think partly because I've read what the original 'profilers' have written about bondage porn and auto-erotic asphyxiation, etc, and partly because I think our characters see far too much of this in their line of work. I can see them getting into a certain amount of the light stuff, but that's it.

- Spanking, if used in the "Reid's been a naughty boy" sort of way. Then again I think most of those are Gideon/Reid, and...well, see below. Gideon should not be paired with anyone. EVER.

- JJ/Reid. I just don't buy that ship.

- Garcia/Morgan. Because their friendship is too good to let romance get in the way. Not to mention Kevin is a man who truly appreciate and admires her for exactly who and what she is. How cool is that?

- Pairing Gideon with anyone. EW.

Kinks: The good stuff.
- Very light bondage. Blindfolding, teasing, denial, use of fun toys. All good. One particular thing I find hot is when one of them holds the other's hand against the bed/floor/wall/etc. That strikes me as lovely and intimate.

- Cross-dressing. In particular, I love it when Reid turns out to have fabulous legs in a short skirt. However, I definitely want them to be men in dresses, not girls with mannish names. Don't give me no uke!boys. *grin*

- Table/desk sex. Mmm, especially if it's Hotch pushing Morgan over a desk. Rowr.

- Wallsex. Wallsex. Wallsex.

- Cuddling.

- Rimming. Didn't really expect to like this, but...yeah.

- Biting, though not drawing blood. I do like marking, though. Hickies are great.

- Possessiveness/jealousy.

- Hand-holding, especially with Reid. Any partner being deliberately romantic with Reid to show him he's special/worthy of that is also a bonus.

- Pairing Rossi with anyone. ROWR. (Okay, except Gideon, see above.)

- Threesomes. Mmm.

- Ships: Morgan/Reid, Hotch/Rossi, Hotch/Morgan, Hotch/Reid, Rossi/Reid, Morgan/Hotch/Reid, Hotch/Rossi/Reid, Garcia/Kevin

Things that can go either way

- Hotch/Prentiss. I've seen the very good and the very bad. But generally speaking I like this pairing.

-

And finally, as a disclaimer to the entire list, there are some authors who can make me read anything, regardless of its position on this list or non-inclusion here. So that just goes to show there's an exception to every rule.
