More whinging
Nov. 4th, 2008 11:27 amI drove Dad's truck to work today. Tuesday is trash pickup day, and we don't set the trash out at the end of our drive, we set it out at the main road. So it's a long way to carry trash bags. Much easier to load them in the back of the truck. But I didn't want to take the time to drive back to the garage and switch cars, so I just drove the truck (good thing it had a full tank of gas, which I forgot to check until I was a couple of miles from home!).
Dad's truck stinks. I can't really describe it, other than maybe old sweat and something dirty. Of course, it's a truck, and it doesn't get driven all that much since Dad bought the Cobalt (better gas mileage), but still. My dad is not your typical man, who dotes on his car and takes care of it and changes the oil himself and all that. I do two thorough cleanings a year (with vacuuming, detailing the interior and washing the insides of the windows) and that's more than his vehicles get.
Now the smell of the truck isn't pleasant, but you get used to it while driving it. If that were all I had to deal with, no biggie. But I got to work and started working, and kept smelling it. Finally I realized that the stench has attached itself to my shirt, because I wasn't wearing a jacket this morning. I even wore perfume today (BPAL's "Blood Kiss") but I can only smell it if I hold my wrist up to my nose. The rest of the time, I can only smell Eau de Sweaty Man Truck.

( Here are my predictions )
To be honest, the results I was most worried about was the state, and thank God, my man Mitch has taken it again. Now let's see what happens in the nation...

Well, I'm not ashamed to say I voted for McCain (no, not Palin, but McCain). But I'm also not afraid to congratulate Barack Obama, and to say that I'm glad he has broken the color barrier in the White House, and I look forward to seeing what he does with his presidency.
( Not to rain on anyone's parade... )
In any case, I feel nothing more than mild disappointment about McCain's defeat, and while I know there are a lot of people at work tomorrow who will be pissed off (and OMG I'm going to have to pull out my earplugs, aren't I?), I'm still looking forward to seeing what the next four years bring.
OMG I really shouldn't have stayed up this late. And I really hope we pick up the slack tomorrow in NaNo, because damn. Election day killed us. *grin*
