Days that I go to the gym seem to be over before I know it.  Off work at 4:30, at the gym by 5, class starting at 5:30, and then suddenly it's 7 or 7:30 by the time I get home, and I still have to shower.  And since Mom tried to cut her finger off yesterday, I did dishes for her tonight, so it was 9 before I could sit down at all.

Best friend and I tried spinning today.  Now I realize that saying spinning is a "stationary bikes class" is like saying that a jaunt up Mount Everest is "a brisk walk", but still, I was not expecting it to kick my ass quite like it did.  I had sweat dripping off the end of my nose, which I don't think has ever happened before.  I felt like a Gatorade commercial.  Also, the best friend got off her bike and went to the locker room halfway through because she thought she was going to throw up.  Then she texted me about an hour ago and said she thinks she needs to try it again.  We'll see.  Right now my abs are trying to murder me, and we won't even talk about my quads.

Speaking of the best friend, she finally got hooked on CM about a month ago during A&E's season three marathon.  I took her the last half of season five today.  She is now begging me for Reid/OFC fic.  I sort of want to hurt her.  I keep telling her Reid is gay for Hotch, but she doesn't seem to agree.  I did send her some of Fifth Year, which made her gasp with how racy it was, so I won't be telling her about the fact that I write NC-17 fic.  LOL

I have tweeted a great deal of complaining about my sciatic nerve, but don't remember if I've mentioned it here recently.  Wednesday I actually stayed home from work because the pain was so crippling I could barely walk.  Usually the pain is in my right butt cheek, but Tuesday night it traveled along the length of my nerve to my calf and foot both.  I've been taking prednisone for it since Tuesday, as well as icing and heating various parts of my body.  It doesn't hurt when I walk or exercise, but when I sit I feel like someone is shoving a hot poker in my ass.  That is really not fun.  I may have to modify my desk here at home so I can kneel or stand while I work.  Doesn't sound fun, but it's probably easier to do that than to make my work cubicle more comfortable.  *sigh*

Oh yeah, Mom's finger.  She cut herself yesterday on an aluminum foil box!  She was holding four Pyrex bowls, which got too heavy for her, and smacked her finger against the cutting edge of the aluminum foil box.  Next thing I know Dad is hollering up that Mom needs me to do first aid.  Apparently he had put a bandaid on and she thought she was all right because it didn't hurt.  She went back to cooking and looked down and there was blood running onto the cutting board.  Ew!  So I found the little sterile strips (like butterflies) that we have, and I bandaged her up, but it was bad enough that I thought she could use stitches.  We went to the ER and sat around for an hour and a half while they treated her.  The nurse asked if I was a health care professional because I did such a good job, apparently, and Mom didn't need stitches because I'd stuck her back together so well.  (Mom said no, I'm not a health care professional; I just get a lot of practice at first aid.)  She did need a tetanus shot though.

Let's see.... [livejournal.com profile] cm_exchange signups are open!  If you haven't gotten over there yet, you've still got plenty of time, but don't forget about it!  We opened it a little early this year because we're going to have fics due a bit earlier.  I'm really looking forward to it!

That's about all I have for my really long update.  I need to go ice my butt and finish my glass of Tabor Hill Traminette.  LOL

I had a kneeling chair (http://www.amazon.com/YogaChair-YogaChair-Affordable-High-Quality-Natural/dp/B001A3A880/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_img_ex) for awhile. I used it when I was having back and neck problems after the worst of the whiplash. It helped tremendously. The only reason I didn't use it full time was because it was a little short for my desk. Maybe something like it could help?

Spinning does get easier. Well. Less challenging. It takes awhile, but it's great for your gams.

Hey, yay for an awesome workout thought!

Boo on your mom's cut finger. Sounds like my mom!

Good for you for handling your mom's cut so well so that she could avoid stitches. Way to go...

Sorry to hear about your sciatic nerve, though. Ouch.

I've never tried spinning (I think I would just keel over). But yeah, it's amazing how quickly the day can go past.

Best friend thinks Fifth Year is racy???? Hmmm... yeah... NC-17 fic would probably not be a good idea. And how can she not see the beauty that is Hotch/Reid. They're practically doing each other at times (or maybe it's just that they glanced at each other (stoically, on Hotch's part)... I always get confused between Hotch and Reid 'doing each other' and 'exchanging brief glances').

Yeah, that sciatic can be a b****! Mine acted up crazy when I was pregnant. Didn't do THAT again! ;D

I hope it is better soon, Sweetie.

*hugs you*

Maybe you can try aqua spinning if you have a course near you. I did it last year and loved it  and it had nothing to do with our drop dead gorgeous trainer:D. It's not as power craving as normal spinning but still very effective. The positive thing is that spinning will get easier with time.

I am now scared of spinning, and yet I still want to try it. :-)

My uncle had similar butt pain issues that traveled to leg and foot pain/barely-able-to-walk pain, and it was definitely related to spending too much time sitting down while working/studying for boards. Some stretching and yoga, and a switch up in his set up really helped.

Have you tried a chiropractor or massotherapist for your sciatica? I know when mine acts up--tho it's not nearly as bad as yours--the masso guy I see for my migraines can usually help a great deal.

She is now begging me for Reid/OFC fic. I sort of want to hurt her. I keep telling her Reid is gay for Hotch, but she doesn't seem to agree.

This is too funny...cause it's true. I saw someone whining recently, in rather derogatory terms, about ppl who ship Hotch/Reid. The irony being that this person ships Elle/JJ. Uh-huh, yeah. Cause that's canon!
