Thank God It's Friday
Jun. 15th, 2007 10:43 pmOr that Friday is OVER, rather.
For those of you who can't hear voice posts, I had a crappy day. The loop guys showed up at 8:30 this morning to finish off the Geothermal stuff, and I was NOT dressed, because Dan (the local installation guy) was supposed to be letting them in. They didn't call him, though, so he wasn't here. Then I stretched wrong and hurt my neck, nothing big but it's like having a stiff neck. Then, here's the kicker: my right front tire blew out on the way to work. But I didn't realise immediately that's what it was, because the steering wasn't affected and I didn't hear it over my music. When I did notice the noise over my music, it was only doing it when I accelerated. So I thought at first it was engine trouble. Not happy about that. But when I pulled off on a gravel road, I realised it was just a tire that I'd blown and then sliced to ribbons by driving probably at least a mile on it.
I had got all the way to being greasy and dusty and having the lug nuts loosened when one of the MANY passers-by finally stopped and offered to help. Now, okay, I am proud of the fact that I can change a tire, but I am never going to turn down help, and I think it's sad when no one at all stops, you know? So anyway, he was a really nice guy, and he did it faster than I probably would have.
$600 later I have four new tires and a nice alignment. I knew I was getting to the end of the tread life on these tires, and I hated the way the car handled on wet pavement. But even with the $100 rebate, I'm not happy about having to ask my parents for all that money to put tires on the car. I am getting more and more desperate to get a full-time job with benefits and better pay. My credit cards are nearly maxed out again, after JUST getting them all but one paid down.
To make my day THAT MUCH better, I also screwed up and gave a $545 sale to the wrong associate, and then at 8:45 we got slammed with customers, and we didn't get them all out the door until 9:10. Ugh.
Where's the Captain when you need him?
