I love Severus' feelings about his teenage self. The lines: "I will not poison my fellow students...etc" struck me as so funny for some reason. The way you have looked at the prank makes a lot of sense.
Remus being accepting of his hand in life but Severus wanting to ease his pain seems very true-to-life to me. I can really relate to both view-points. I really feel for them.
