Earthquake!

We just had an earthquake! I was sitting down and Mom was in bed and Dad was in the garage, and I jumped up and ran out into the hallway and Merlin was flipping out, staring around him with wide eyes. It was actually a 5.4 magnitude with the epicenter in southern Illinois, about 200 miles away. Merlin is still freaked out fifteen minutes later.

That was the second earthquake I've ever felt here in Indiana.

Yeah we felt it up here too. Our dog was the most bothered by it. My mom slept through it and I vaguely recall some slight shacking.

We had tremors here in Central Kentucky! *g* Though I was asleep, my roommate was awake and felt them.

Okay, as someone who currently lives in Los Angeles, I just have to say... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Oh, don't fret. We're expected to have another BIG ONE soon (within 30 years or so, probably less). But it's nice to hear of someplace else sharing in our natural disasters.

Hope you're okay!

I'm not sure whether it was the quake itself or the cat launching himself off me with all claws bared that woke me up, but yeah, we felt it here too -- plus aftershocks somewhere midmorning. XD

I'm from a town with an enormous grain processing place that explodes every half dozen years or so, so my first three guesses in order were "grain plant exploding again," "earthquake," and "Clinton nuclear power plant going up," and I kept going "please please pleeeeeease don't let it be the nuke plant..."

Hope everyone is ok! I've never been in an earthquake. It must be quite scary/surreal.
