My "manager" threw me under the bus at the fucking collections meeting today. Big surprise. I was left looking like an asshole, and that pisses me off majorly. I'll be applying for new jobs the minute I get back from vacation.

If that's what it takes for you to start looking, fine. I think you should be looking non-stop until you get something and can get out of there. This is just icing on the cake of hating what you deal with every damn day.

Well, you know, in this economy, as sad as it is, I was really afraid to look for a new job, because I know this one is secure. *sigh* But yeah, I'm ready to start looking.

Looking doesn't mean quitting the job you have. It means looking. Right? It will take some time to find something with things the way they are--which is a reason to get started.

Didn't you apply to the FBI at one point? What happened with that?

True, I've only ever quit a job without having one already lined up, and even though that worked out, I cringe just thinking about how that felt. I still can't believe I did it, but when the VP of the board said, "Don't you talk to me that way, young lady," I decided I couldn't work for an asshole who talked to me like I was his teenage daughter, and that was after six months of putting up with crap from him already.

Sadly, the FBI didn't want me. My status was "qualified - not referred", which meant they decided not to continue the hiring process with me. :( It's hard to say if I would have passed the physical stage anyway, with my arthritic ankle and antidepressants and whatnot. Heh.

I know there are always parts of our jobs that we don't like. But while I'm good at this sort of work that I'm doing, I find almost no enjoyment in what I'm doing, and the little enjoyment I do get, doesn't really cover the rest of the crap. Then again, I've got a day's distance from yesterday's meeting, and I've discovered I actually will put up with a lot of crap if I let myself.

So yeah, definitely time to start looking at least.
