Dear co-workers,

I know it's hard to empty the pencil sharpener. I know it's a dinosaur piece of equipment that's heavy and hard to move. I know pulling the trash can closer so the cord will reach is a lot to ask. Your lives are all busy and full and difficult. I know that.

But please, for my sanity's sake, don't leave pencil shavings all over the filing cabinets in the copy room after your half-hearted attempt at emptying the machine. I'd rather you leave the machine full and let me empty it myself.

Lots of love,

Your fussy, anal-retentive neat-freak of a co-worker

But then I never claimed to be.

I've mentioned before that the receptionist comes in about 45 minutes before her shift, right? And sits in the cubicle behind mine, reading her paper and eating her (usually smelly) breakfast?

Well, the person who unlocks ONE of the office doors gets here around 7:30. But there's another door, about 40 feet down, that my dad unlocks before 7 every morning. This morning, around 7:20, we heard a violent pounding on the locked door. I didn't move. I've seen this happen before and it annoys the shit out of me. But sadly, D in AP caved and went to open the door for her. (It opens from this side, just not the other side.)

The receptionist came up and sat behind me, griping and complaining about what crap it was, etc. etc.

So I picked out some music to listen to, since we're allowed to listen to music before 8am and after 5pm. And I intentionally picked out Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, and Metallica. *snerk*

I know she's back there fuming, and I love it.

My "manager" threw me under the bus at the fucking collections meeting today. Big surprise. I was left looking like an asshole, and that pisses me off majorly. I'll be applying for new jobs the minute I get back from vacation.

I was alone in the lunchroom for a while today, so I took the opportunity to turn off the TV and enjoy the silence. Another lady came in and we didn't talk. And then someone came in and said, "it's so quiet!" And then proceeded to KEEP making that observation every other minute. I finally left early because I was abouit to burst out with, "Yes, it WAS quiet until YOU got here!". And she's someone who would have cried if I said that (really) so I thought it better to leave entirely.

So they finished fixing the AC yesterday. Today it's approximately 63 degrees in here. I am wearing a fleece jacket over my three-quarter-length sleeves and long pants, and I am still shivering. Why is it so freaking hard to achieve a happy medium in here?!?

LJ needs room for several moods at once. COLD, CRANKY, ANNOYED, BITCHY.....

Ugh

Second day running that the A/C is broken. It was 82 in the office all day yesterday. Today I don't think it's as hot, but then again today I am wearing capris and short sleeves instead of pants and 3/4 length sleeves. They're working on it today, though, which I am sure means that around 3 pm I will be freezing.

In the meantime, people are snapping at each other or ignoring each other, and it's getting to be very annoying. C--- has already pointed out a stupid mistake I made several months ago, for apparently on reason other than pointing out my mistake. It's not a mistake I've ever made before, and she's just as capable of fixing it as I am, so I'm cranky about that.

In addition, it's raining like crazy again today, and my wifey's having another bad day.

Let's just all go back to bed.

The IT manager just stopped by and said I should get my new desktop today or tomorrow.

Six months after they started rolling them out.

The day before my vacation.

*cue cynical laughter here*

I have a new policy that I think every workplace should implement. I think each workplace should allow people five "attitude days", also to be known as "coworker health days". These days may be taken at will like sick days, and should be fully paid, and no questions should be asked.

Because I'm telling you, if I have to continue to sit in my cubicle all day today, there's a good possibility I'm going to open my mouth and let fly on one of my coworkers, and it would really be better for everyone if I just left now.

WTF Ms Buyer? Do I LOOK like a freaking secretary? YOU can pick up your damn phone and call someone about the remit-to address JUST AS EASILY as I can! In fact, it would be easier for you to do it, because you know the NAME of the guy at extension 7397! I DON'T!

Let me offer you a hint, okay? If you woud spend MORE time working and LESS time talking, you would be totally able to get all your work done! It's amazing how that works. I can hear your voice all over the freaking office--over the sound of the construction, which is so bloody loud I can't hear myself think!

And you know what? I'd actually be less angry about this if I knew you were doing it just because I'm the temp. But I know for a fact that you do this to A---- because she told me you would do this!

In slightly calmer news, the Blackhawk Down soundtrack kicks ass.
