innerslytherin: (write - call this working)
Just to be clear, these questions are not about my next tattoo. ([livejournal.com profile] severity_softly is designing that for me.) This is for a character I am writing about.

I have a character (Caucasian former Army brat in her mid-30s) who is fairly fluent in Japanese thanks to living in Japan for a couple of years as a teenager. She made some very poor choices there and I'm thinking maybe she got a tattoo afterwards. I want something like the concept of "regret" or "the road not taken" or that kind of thing. From what little I know of Japanese, it seems to be somewhat conceptual rather than literal (one of you told me once the word for 'perfect blue autumn sky' or something like that - I have to look it up every autumn).

So anyway, two questions:

1. How do I find out the Kanji for something like "regret" or "the road not taken"? I can give more details when I get home if needed. I really don't know enough about Japanese to know if I'm asking the right question.

2. Question for men (or women who fancy women) in particular: What do you think is the sexiest location for a woman to have a kanji character tattooed on her (black ink on pale Caucasian skin, if that influences your answer)?

Note to self: I need to make an icon for this writing project, just for fun.
Second note to self: It's been a year since printing a list of tags & userpics to use at work, and I need to update that.

1. I need a young woman with black hair (or very dark brown) to visualize a character I'm writing. I've ruled out the usual suspects of Beckinsale, McAdams, the Deschanel sisters, Dennigs, Glau, Brewster...man, I went through so many pages of Google images. I just can't find quite the right woman. Suggestions?

2. Anyone here know much about web hosting and Wordpress? :/ I made an impulse purchase to try to get a webpage set up, even though I'm not 100% sure I want to use Wordpress to do it (fortunately WP is free, but still...) I've got the domain name registered and I've got the webhosting...and for the life of me I can't work out how to connect the two. I've done this once before. I ought to remember. But that was sooo many years ago. I have no memory of how to do this.

3. Anyone out there actually like DST? It's a pain in my ass. I wish Indiana had held out.

4. Happy late Ides of March and early St. Patrick's Day. :D

I know I have some ex-US military types hanging around here, as well as several German friends. I'm looking for a likely US Army base for a character to have spent time on as a kid. Her father is an officer (I'm thinking Colonel by the time she's an adult) and they were posted in Germany while she was maybe 8 to 12 or thereabouts.

Suggestions? Little details she can sprinkle into conversation? How would she say "I love German food!" in German?

Thanks in advance! *G*

I have a question, because it's been a long time since I lived with people (except my parents, who aren't your typical housemates).

What are things that housemates fight about?

I'll start: leaving the laundry in one of the machines, not doing dishes, leaving your crap all over the common living space.

Now add more. I'm trying to write a scene where two people are arguing about something, and I need a good, old argument that can have them shouting and slamming doors.
