We HAVE to be interested! These days your selection of President is slightly more important than our selection of Prime Minister. For instance, I very much doubt we'll go to war with Iran unless the US decides to and asks for our support. And the financial crisis - in the US there are problems but Iceland, Hungary and the Ukraine have gone bankrupt.

The President is the most powerful leader in the world. Everything he does is going to affect us whether we have any say in the matter or not. It's similar to the situation in the US in the 1770s when policy was decided in London and the colonists had no say in the matter.
