Oh, this is exactly the kind of emotional follow-up I have wanted to read since Emily's revelation.
The way you intertwined her past and how much it, and her parents, influenced her in the part of her life we see now was brilliant. The declaration that she wanted everything made me grin. Of course she wouldn't give up her career for a family - Emily Prentiss would make everything work exactly as she wanted it to, no one will tell her what she can and cannot have.
Her relationship with Rossi in this story was so subtle yet encompassing that it made everything feel like it was going to be all right. The short section about Hotch and the handkerchief was my favourite and I loved her interaction with the team after the funeral.
I love the emotional realism in this story, the regret and loneliness Prentiss feels and the genuine love she has for Rossi and the team and her parents. It all comes across so beautifully.
A wonderful piece of writing and a brilliant character study.
